in French and Russian Tuesday 11/23 March 1869, at 11 a.m. 1p. recto verso Embossed imperial monogrammed paper, walnut ink. 18,5 x 12 cm Tuesday 23 March 1869, 11 a.m. Alexander II is overwhelmed with happiness, and their daily letters only reinforce it: ‘Our daily letters prove it to us more and more every day’. Alexander II uses their secret word ‘bingerle’: ‘I’m glad that my lovely little sweetheart has finally slept better, under the impression of our delirious bingerles, which made us enjoy, two days in a row, like the fools we are’. The Tsar says that he will have to leave for a while, as he has to go hunting, but that he is only looking forward to seeing his beloved again. ‘Je suis content que mon adorable petite femme ait enfin mieux dormi, sous l’impression de nos bingerles délirants, qui nous ont fait jouir, deux jours de suite, comme des fous que nous sommes.’
