ALEX MLYNARÇYK (B. 1934) Čas (Time)

inscribed in pencil ‘Mlynárčik 66/Monotype’ (along the right egde) monotype on paper 101 x 50 cm 1966 Alex Mlynárčik is one of the most prominent Slovak Neo-Avant-garde artists. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava and in Prague. He realized his first artworks in the early 1960s, making mixed-media compositions on wood. During his trip to Paris in 1964, he found an immediate affinity with Nouveau Réalisme (César, Arman, Saint Phalle, Christo), the impact of which can be seen in the development of his works. He realized many decorative projects for architecture, paintings, sculptures, glass works and metal works.
