Manuscript with anecdotes about the difficult condition of women in Turkey after the return of the city of Andrinople to Turkey. Tout ce qu'on peut espérer, c'est que ce soit la majorité qui brime la minorité. Ceci n'est pas évidemment l'idéal, mais vaut encore mieux que le contraire" ["All we can hope for is that the majority will restrict the minority. This is obviously not ideal, but it is better than the opposite"]. Also included is an anecdote told by Louis Bertrand about a performance of Le Cid in Damascus.

Probably the speech given on 13 April 1930 in Sfax, in tribute to Paul Bourde (1851-1914), at the inauguration of the monument erected in his honour. Bourde had formed around 1865 "the project of running away to discover the sources of the Nile" with "an
accomplice: the poet Arthur Rimbaud".
Pierre Mille recalls the life and praises Paul Bourde. He concludes by saying: "Without him, I would have been just another man of letters, a metropolitan man of letters".
