In 1914, Yuri Annenkov created sketches for makeup and costumes for the play "Bad Joke" at V.F. Komissarzhevskaya's New Dramatic Theater. His second experience bringing this work to the stage was a play in a Paris theater in 1957. The play at the Paris theatre in 1957 marked his second attempt to bring this work to life on stage. One of Annenkov's best book works of the Parisian period. A significant part of the original illustrations is held in the collection of René Guerra.
