Label Artist: JOAN MIRÓ (1893-1984)
Introduced by André Masson into the Surrealist group, Miró invented his violently coloured universe, composed of sign-objects, snakes, parasites with worrying pseudopods, but he also carries within them the innocence and fantasy of children’s drawings. Crushed by a huge blood-red grape, his design for Mouton Rothschild 1969 includes a humorous ‘salute to the colours’, the blue and yellow of the de Rothschild family, in the left-hand corner.
Provenance: Private wine cellar from a Villa in the South of France (preserved in the cellar with regulated hydrometry and temperature)
