The auctions held on 26-27th June 2022 featured two catalogues that included paintings, works on paper and objects of vertu as well as an extensive collection of fine porcelain, silver and furniture from a private villa in the South of France.
The beautiful Lalique lots from the villa attracted several bidders whose interest made prices rise to 6.500 € for the Lalique mirror Les Causeuses, 13.260 € for the cactus half-moon console table and 35.100€ for the Perles d’eau coffee table.
The fine porcelain collection sold remarkably well, with a lot of three Hermes table services sold for 11.700€, four times the estimate, and another Hermes service which made 7.100€, twice its estimate; other lots in this section are a Herend table service with flower and butterfly decoration sold for 7.800€ or a Versace Rosenthal table service “Les tresors de la mer” with selling price of 3.300 €. The silver collection that followed featured an Odiot set of six candle holders sold for 1.500 € and Christofle silver-plated cutlery set sold for 1.800 €, and more.
A Murano glass sculpture by the Venetian glassmaker Alessandro Barbaro representing Munch’s Scream was sold for 1.900 € in the Decorative Objects section, followed by, among others, an Amphora Art Nouveau vase decorated with vine leaves sold for 1.000 € and a fine Cartier black suede and gold bag which fetched 3.380 €.
Among paintings and works on paper, important are the early 20th century names of Alphonse Mucha, whose posters for La Samaritaine and “Job” were sold for 1.300 € and 3.100 € respectively, as well as the poster by Paul Emile Berthon which gained 1.600 €. A canvas representing soldiers in the front-line during World War I by the artist Ivan Vladimirov fetched 10.400 €, while the pastel of more contemporary artist, Sergei Chepik, was sold for 6.400 €. Worth mentioning is an artist belonging to the Uzbek avant-garde, Nikolai Karakhan, of whom the Monegasque auction house sold two works for 4.900 € and 4.500 €.
