Minor soiling, moisture stains on the lower part of the spine (T. 1), tears in the paper along the spine (T. 1), ex libris S.A. Ermolinsky on the title page. Author's autograph on the title page of Volume 1: "To Marika VEM." Presumably, the autograph is addressed to the actress Marika Chmshkyan – the wife of S.A. Ermolinsky. Expert opinion by S.E. Strizhneva, director of the State Museum of V.V. Mayakovsky from 1981 to 2012. Provenance: Sergei Alexandrovich Ermolinsky (1900-1984) was a Soviet screenwriter and playwright, writer, and journalist. He entered the film industry in 1925, collaborating with director Yuliy Raizman. In the late 1940s, he was arrested, likely influenced by his friendship with Bulgakov and his participation in the Bulgakov commission at the Union of Writers. He was rehabilitated in 1956. In 1929, he met 25-year-old Maria (Marika) Artemyevna Chmshkyan (1904-1990), the granddaughter of the prominent Armenian theater actor Gevorg Chmshkyan, who had visited M.A. and L.E. Bulgakov and later facilitated the friendship between Ermolinsky and M.A. Bulgakov. Her mother was French. Marika initially worked for the railway, but her distinctive appearance and inherited acting talent drew the attention of filmmakers. Marika appeared in two Georgian films – "Wasp's Nest" (1927) by Ivan Perestiani and "Eliso" (1928) by Nikoloz Shengelaia. However, she remained indifferent to an acting career.
