1 CHÂTEAU MOUTON ROTHSCHILD PAUILLAC 1987 75cl

Lot 88

Label Artist: HANS ERNI (1909 – 2015) The Swiss painter Hans Erni started out as an abstract painter, but later abandoned it under the influence of humanitarian concerns. Erni’s symbolic realism, often expressed in allegories that take up figures from classical or contemporary mythology, combines fleshy and powerful forms with a precision of line that is sometimes pushed to the point of geometric purity. His talent as a portraitist is brilliantly expressed in his drawing for the label of Mouton Rothschild 1987. Transforming his model into a symbol, Erni captured the fertile and radiant energy of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, to whom this label pays a last tribute. Provenance: Private wine cellar from a Villa in the South of France (preserved in the cellar with regulated hydrometry and temperature)
