pastel on parchment 29 x 23.5 cm executed in 1770s The pastel is presumably a copy of a lost portrait by Fyodor Rokotov (1736-1808). Johann Bardou (2nd half of the 18th century) studied at the Prussian Royal Academy of Arts in Berlin. In 1775 he worked in Warsaw. In the 1780s he arrived in St. Petersburg. His works are exhibited at the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the State Hermitage Museum and other collections.
