Georges ANNENKOV (1889 - 1974)
Self-portrait of Georges Annenkov Four preparatory drawings for a cartoon

pencil and ink on calking paper 22 x 28 cm Annenkov was always interested in animation. In 1930 he created a project for a cartoon, where he was himself the protagonist. In one scene he features himself with a muse. The muse is extremely intrusive, flies over his head, doesn't leave him in peace, and constantly teases him. The attacked artist changes his facial expressions: he is angry, tries to relieve of his obsessive companion. Finally, everything comes into place and ends in laughter. The cartoon has never been shown to the public.
