The first publication of the novel by Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov (1891-1940) with a foreword by Konstantin Simonov. The first separate edition of the novel in Russian was published in 1967 in Paris by YMCA-press. Provenance: Alexey Petrovich Struve (1899-1976) - bibliographer, bibliophile, antiquarian. He lived in Paris and owned antique and second-hand book shops in the Latin quarter. Member of the Board of the society of friends of the Russian book in Paris. A friend of the Bunin family, supplied them with books.
