Depicting a mother and her three children, Une famille se reposant au soleil is the epitome of the Maximilien Luce’s work. Along with Pissaro, Georges Seurat and Paul Signac, Luce was one of the founders of the Neo-Impressionist School. He realized this painting in 1908, a year before he was elected Vice President of the Société des Artistes Indépendants. Temporary exportation, a subject to import tax.
