Grigoriev, Boris Dmitrievich (1886–1939) - painter, graphic artist, book artist, theater artist, teacher and writer, a brilliant master of drawing who connected academic tradition with avant-garde. Fame in Russia came to the artist after participating (since 1913) in exhibitions of the association "World of Art", which exhibited his drawings made during short trips to Paris in 1911 and 1913. Most of his life B.D. Grigoriev was famous; dozens of his works were readily bought by collectors and museums of Russia, France, America, Chile, the Czech Republic and other countries. Abroad, he had the glory of "line artist", "the great Russian artist." In 1922–1923, B. Grigoriev created a series in which he depicted the cultural environment of modern Russia through portraits of actors from the Moscow Art Theater: K.S. Stanislavsky, V.I. Kachalova, V.V. Luzhsky , I.M. Moskvina, N.G.Alexandrova, O.L. Knipper and others. These and some other works were included in the album "Faces of Russia".
