signed ‘Chapelle Nancy’ on the bronze and ‘Muller Frères’ on the glass clear glass decorated with colored inclusions by Muller Frères, wrought iron mount by Léon Chapelle, black marble base. height: 37 cm lenght: 53 cm Executed circa 1920 The Muller brothers, founders of the Muller Frères glassworks in Lunéville, are French art glassmakers of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. The family includes nine brothers and one sister. They were all trained in the art of glassmaking. The best known are Eugène Muller (1883-1914), Désiré Muller (1877-1952) and Henri Muller (1868- ). The Muller Frères worked with Léon (or Edouard) Chapelle, wrought iron worker from Lay St Christophe who made 14 models of animals according to the catalogs of the time (snail, turtle, pigeon, lion, peacock, elephant, monkey, etc.) but also two other models including a tiger. These pieces were made between 1925 and 1935. The mounts are sometimes in bronze, most of the time signed. The glassware is sometimes decorated with metallic interleaving (Muller patent of 1929), most often with a shiny unsanded decoration. Chapelle also made many small objects such as letter openers, pocket trays etc.

Vermeil, mother of pearl, lapis lazuli, and rock crystal. The parrots are resting on a perch, their heads and feathers in mother-of-pearl monochrome colours. Their bodies and tails are decorated with lapis lazuli motifs. The parrots are resting on a revolving cylindrical base of rock crystal finished with a lapis lazuli terrace.

Marked ‘CHAUMET A925’ Accompanied by designated gouache painting in a frame, signed ‘Chaumet’ and dated 1986. This sculpture has been entered in the archives of Chaumet museum in Paris. Sculpture: 47.5 x 29 cm. Paintings: 84 x 65 cm. In excellent condition. The history of Chaumet has been entwined with the History of France ever since its founding in 1780, in Paris. Indeed, the House of Chaumet very quickly became the official jeweller to Empress Josephine. Its high jewellery savoir-faire has been passed down through generations of jewellers for almost 240 years. Crafted at the very heart of the place Vendôme, the jewellery watchmaking and sculpture creations reflect these exceptional skills and pay tribute to the Parisian style.

A mahogany and tainted wood secretary with mirror. Parchment decor with painted plant and bird motives. Tin and copper inlays. Arabic insciption meaning ‘May God be with you’. Height: approx. 260 cm Width: approx. 109 cm Literature: Ferrari, Bulgarelli, Passato prossimo tra antiquariato e modernariato, Artioli Ed. p.134 Fils de Giovanni Luigi Bugatti (sculpteur et architecte renommé en Italie), Carlo Bugatti naît en 1856 à Milan. Décorateur et architecte, créateur et fabricant de mobilier, de modèles d’orfèvrerie, d’instruments de musique, et même d’une bicyclette de compétition, son style, influencé par l’art nouveau, le mouvement Style Floral, se distingue par l’utilisation de bois exotiques, de marqueteries de cuivre, parchemin et nacre. Il commence sa carrière artistique à Milan vers 1880, après avoir suivi les cours de l’Académie des beaux-arts de Brera en 1875, puis de l’Académie des beaux-arts de Paris. Il obtient ses premiers succès hors d’Italie en 1888, puis accède à la notoriété artistique avec une médaille d’argent à l’Exposition universelle de 1900 à Paris et triomphe pour son salon de jeu et de conversation présenté lors de l’exposition Internationale d’Art décoratif moderne de Turin en 1902. Il s’installe à Paris en 1904, puis se retire à Pierrefonds (Oise) en 1910, commune dont il devient maire durant la Première Guerre mondiale. Père de Deanice Bugatti, d’Ettore Bugatti (1881-1947), le constructeur d’automobiles Bugatti et de Rembrandt Bugatti (1884-1916), le sculpteur animalier. Carlo Bugatti was a decorator and architect, a designer and manufacturer of furniture, gold and silverware, musical instruments, and even a racing bicycle. His peculiar style, influenced by the Art Nouveau and Floral Style movements, made use of exotic woods, copper, parchment, and mother-of-pearl inlays.

mark: inscription ‘WARSZAWA FRAGET / PLAQUÉ’ inside the oval, refers to the period circa 1851 - 1854 silver plating on copper base, restorations height 81 cm, length 34 cm, plate 60 x 36 cm Extremely rare The brothers Alphonse and Joseph Fraget, two French jewellers, arrived in Warsaw 200 years ago to start the production of relatively cheap silver table ware. They used the new French technology, copper base with a fused silver layer, called “SILVER PLATE”. In 1830, the firm received its first award for the high quality of its products and artistic design, thus establishing the flawless reputation which was kept over a long period of time. When the elder brother Alphonse returned to France, Józef Fraget (1797 – 1867) decided to expand his business and very soon the Józef Fraget enterprise became one of the most modern and well-equipped silver plate foundries in Eastern Europe.

Clock case plinth supporting the gilded bronze sculpture of an angel. Dial signed ‘Bailly A PARIS’ Dimensions: 47 x 28.5 x 13.5 cm Bailly (retired in 1818) was one of the finest clockmakers of his time in Paris and earned the title of Horloger de LL. MM. II. et RR (Clockmaker to Their Imperial and Royal Majesties). Working from Rue de Richelieu, he was one of the main suppliers to the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne. Bailly had the responsibility of maintaining the clocks at Compiègne and the Trianons, and is known to have used cases by the leading Parisian bronziers including Pierre-Philippe Thomire and Claude Galle as well as Ferdinand Schwerdfeger. In addition to the Musées du Château de Compiègne and Fontainebleau as well as the Grand Trianon, other clocks by Bailly can be seen in Paris in the Garde-Meuble National and Musées du Louvre, Marmottan and La Légion d’Honneur.
