Blokh on the half-title: ‘To dear Nadya as a token of friendship and affection, Raya / Paris, Cité Universitaire 17 - VI 1933’. The publication of ‘The Net’ coincided with the departure of Raisa Blokh and M. Gorlin for Paris. Political tension was mounting in Germany at the time, which probably prompted some of the poets to look for a safer place to work. Raisa Noevna Blokh (1899-1943) was a poet of the Russian emigration and the wife of the poet Mikhail Gorlin (1909-1944), with whom she belonged to the Berlin Poets’ Circle. Both perished in concentration camps. Poets represented in the collection: Ya. Bikerman, Raisa Blokh, Nina Brodskaya, Nikolai Belotsvetov, Mikhail Gorlin, Yuri Dzhanumov, Vera Lurie, Vl. Piotrovsky, Sofia Pregel, Georgy Raevsky, Evgeny Raich, Nikolai Elyashov and Viktoria Erden.
