The stage design project The Fall, exploring the biblical narrative of the Fall of Man and conceived in 1937 (also known as The Fall: The Eden Tree), occupies a distinctive and dramatic place in the history of art. It represents Georges de Pogédaieff’s last major theatrical work, after which the artist definitively abandoned stage design to devote himself entirely to easel painting.
