signed and dated ‘A. von Gerdorff 1946’ (lower right) watercolour on paper 48,5 x 36 cm Executed in 1946 Anna von Gersdorff-Obolensky was a Russian-born Swedish painter, born in St. Petersburg into the princely Obolensky family. After receiving private artistic training between 1910 and 1918, she emigrated to Germany in the 1920s and continued her studies in Dresden from 1931 to 1933. Settling in Sweden in 1945, she exhibited regularly, including a solo exhibition at the Lyceum Club in Stockholm in 1950. Her oeuvre encompasses landscapes, seascapes, floral still lifes, portraits, and interior scenes, Executed primarily in watercolour and oil.
