The Russian Empress, wife of Alexander III (since 28 October 1866) and mother of Emperor Nicholas II, died on 13 October 1928; after her funeral on 19 October in the Orthodox Church, her ashes were placed in a sarcophagus in the Royal Consecration Room at Roskilde Cathedral in Denmark next to her parents’ ashes. Members of the Danish royal family are also laid to rest there.
