Frank Gray Griswold An American financier and writer who was a prominent figure in New York society during the Gilded Age. In 1929, Griswold published this work along with a companion volume, Old Medeiras. Both volumes were dedicated to the ‘Kittens’, an aristocratic dining club, limited to twenty members, founded in 1869 in New York. Their dinners featured many of the fine wines and vintage Maderas mentioned in these two
