Slight fading to the edges of the wrappers. ‘Voronezh Notebooks’ is a collection of poems written and compiled during Mandelshtam’s exile in Voronezh (1934–1937), to which he was sent for his anti-Stalin epigram ‘We live, not feeling the country beneath us...’. From the publisher’s note: ‘In this edition, the ‘Voronezh Notebooks’ are published for the first time as a unified whole, as a book, in the form conceived by Mandelshtam himself. Most of the texts have been checked and corrected against Mandelshtam’s manuscripts preserved at Princeton University. Several humorous poems from the Voronezh period and all variants of ‘Verses on the Unknown Soldier’ are published here for the first time.’
