In the ownership leather binding. A fragment of the illustrated publisher’s cover by L.F. Schmidt-Ryzhova is glued to the front cover. In good condition. Block slightly trimmed; a mark from a sticker on the half-title page; faint foxing in the block.
One of the earliest books of the Russian avant-garde, published in the same year as ‘Sadok sudey’: the present collection appeared in March 1910, while ‘Sadok sudey’ was issued in May 1910 (see Polyakov).
The volume includes contributions by N. Kul’bin (‘Svobodnoe iskusstvo kak osnova zhizni: Garmoniya i dissonans’), N. Evreinov (‘Predstavlenie lyubvi’), A. Borisyak (‘O zhivopisi muzyki’), A. Ballier (‘Wagang’, on Javanese puppet theatre), A. Gidoni (‘Tsarevna i luna’), as well as poetic works.
First appearance of poems by Velimir Khlebnikov: ‘Zaklyatie smekhom’ and ‘Trushchoby: byli napolneny zvukom trushchoby…’ (pp. 47–48).
First appearance of poems by David Burlyuk: ‘Prazdno goluboy’ and ‘Zelenoe i goluboe’ (p. 46).
