Scott Campbell is an American artist working at the intersection of fine art, tattooing, and sculpture. Born in New Orleans, he initially studied biochemistry at University of Texas before turning to art and relocating to San Francisco, where he began his career as a tattoo artist. Campbell rose to international prominence after moving to New York City, becoming one of the most sought-after tattooists of his generation, known for his intricate, hand-rendered designs. Alongside his tattoo practice, he developed a body of work that includes sculpture, drawing, and conceptual projects. His works often explore themes of value, transformation, and labor, notably through his signature use of materials such as cut and engraved stacks of U.S. dollar bills. His work has been exhibited internationally and reflects a dialogue between craft traditions and contemporary art practices.
