Bernard Daydé began his career as a set designer in 1944 and held his first solo exhibition of paintings in 1945. The following year, he designed the sets for J. Babilée’s ballet ‘Sérénité’. This marked the beginning of a long association with dance, which would leave its mark on French ballet in the 1950s and 1960s (J. Charrat, M. Béjart, J. Lazzini, etc.). From 1971 to 1977, he headed the artistic and technical departments at the Paris Opera, contributing to their reorganisation.
