signed in Cyrillic ‘T Kakabadze’ (lower right) oil on canvas 50 x 40 cm Between 1971 and 1977, Tamaz Kakabadze studied oil painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tbilisi. During the creative climate of the 1980s–1990s, his artistic vision was shaped by an existential reflection on truth and human existence. Working mainly in landscape and still life, he developed a restrained visual language characterized by clear compositions and a palette built around subtle shades of white. Recurring motifs—abandoned houses, empty streets and solitary figures—create an atmosphere of silence and spiritual loneliness. In stylistic terms, some of his works recall the aesthetic of Niko Pirosmani. In the 1980s he was also among the organizers of the Pirosmani Artists’ Club.
