signed in Cyrillic and dated ‘OTR 66’ (lower right) pastel on paper 42 x 28 cm executed in 1966 Sergei Borisovich Otroshchenko was a Russian-Ukrainian painter, monumental artist, and stage designer, and a member of the USSR Artists’ Union. Trained in Odessa and Kiev, he worked as a war artist during World War II, then created monumental and decorative works in Kiev and Moscow, including stained-glass windows for the Museum of Historical Treasures of Ukraine. He was the first husband of Tatiana Yablonskaya. His work spans monumental, decorative, and theatrical painting, combining realism with poetic sensitivity in 20th-century Soviet art.
