A leading figure of the Russian Avant-Garde and a founding member of the Jack of Diamonds, Petr Konchalovsky is celebrated for his vigorous, Cézanne-inspired brushwork and his pivotal role in shaping modern Russian painting.
Executed in 1942 at the height of the Great Patriotic War, “Where Can One Donate Blood Here?” by Petr Konchalovsky is one of only two known authentic studies for the related large-format work (1942, oil on canvas, 221.5 x 349.5 cm) now preserved in the museum of Kotovsk (Tambov region).
