H. Stern is a Brazilian jewellery house founded in 1945 by Hans Stern. The company’s first boutique opened in Rio de Janeiro in 1949. This family-run business is now headed by Roberto Stern, the son of the founder, who was a Jewish emigrant of German origin who arrived in Brazil in 1939. At the age of just 17, Hans worked for a gemstone exporter, developing a passion for these gems and setting out to find beautiful stones to sell to tourists. He opened his first shop and shortly afterwards founded a small company, H. Stern, which experienced significant growth, thanks in particular to visiting celebrities such as Fidel Castro and Rita Hayworth. H. Stern is world-renowned for its Rainbow collection. It showcases a gradient of Brazilian gemstones (amethysts, tourmalines, citrines, topazes, peridots).
