gouache , inscribed on the reverse of the frame 7 x 6 cm Grand Duchess Anna Pavlovna of Russia (1795-1865) was the Queen Consort of the Netherlands as the wife of King William II.She was the eighth child and sixth daughter of Emperor Paul I of Russia and Empress Maria. She was the mother of five children including King William III of the Netherlands and Sophie, Grand Duchess Consort of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. Her paternal grandmother was Catherine the Great, Empress of Russia. Her brothers were Emperors of Russia-Alexander I and Nicholas I, and sister was Catherine Pavlovna, Queen Consort of Württemberg.
