finely carved in profile, depicting Elena Pavlovna, within an oval mount surmounted by an Imperial crown, the border inscribed E. I. V. Elena Pavlovna (Eya Imperatorskoe Vysochestvo Elena Pavlovna), the reverse with a later paper label bearing a biographical inscription, circa 1920s 13 × 10.5 cm Her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna (1784–1803), the second daughter of Paul I of Russia and Maria Feodorovna. In 1799, she married the Crown Prince of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and became Hereditary Princess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. She died on 24 September 1803, aged nineteen.
