FOLLOWER OF FRANÇOIS BOUCHER (1703-1770) Odalisque brune

Lot 25
500800
oil on panel 37 x 49.50 cm L’Odalisque brune by Boucher (1703-1770), painted in the 1740s (Musée du Louvre, Paris, inv. RF 2140), embodies the fantasy of a carefree, libertine society, as well as the luxury of a softly padded interior, that has come to define the modern concept of 18th-century France. The present version would have been part of the confidential diffusion of this licentious image in the 18th century.
