pp. 5-65. In a composite ownership’s binding. In good condition. Author’s dedication on p. 5: “Dorogomu Sergeyu Borisovichu privet iz Grasse. Iv. Bunin.” [“To dear Sergey Borisovich, greetings from Grasse. Iv. Bunin.”] The Life of Arseniev is a five-part prose work by Ivan Bunin, written in France. Most of the work was completed in 1929. The first publications of individual chapters began in 1927 in the Paris newspaper Rossiya. Three years later, the author began work on the continuation—the final part, Lika. The Life of Arseniev was published as a separate book in 1930 (Paris, Sovremennye Zapiski publishing house). The first complete edition was published by the Chekhov Publishing House in New York (1952). In 1933, Bunin became the first Russian writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize; according to the writer, this recognition was primarily due to The Life of Arseniev. The fifth book was completed in 1933 and published in two issues of the magazine Sovremennye Zapiski (Nos. 52 and 53).
