576 pp.; 20.5x13.5 cm. In the original illustrated cover. In very good condition. Minor scuffs on the cover. A. Remizov worked on the book in the 1930s and 1940s, completing it in early 1949. The Music Teacher is not only a story about Remizov’s years in Paris, but also a parable “about the fatal ossification of a person cut off from his language and culture, about the bitter isolation of a person within himself, in his home, in his room-cell-prison, a parable about a person condemned to blindness, to a “rat’s life,” to the loss of the fairy-tale and playful side of existence” (p. 23).
