Minor stains, moisture stains, restoration of the edges of the covers, spines, and individual pages. Dedication by M. Tsvetaeva on the title page of book 1: ‘Olge Eliseevne Marina Tsvetaeva Praga 1926’ [‘To Olga Eliseevna, Marina Tsvetaeva, Prague 1926’]. Olga Eliseevna Kolbasina-Chernova (1885-1964) was a writer and the wife of V.M. Chernov, founder of the Socialist Revolutionary Party. She lived in exile in Berlin and Prague, and in 1924 settled in Paris. When the Efron-Tsvetaev family arrived there, she took them in and was Mura’s godmother. She later returned to the USSR. On the first blank page of book 2: ‘Ariadne Chernovoi – liubimoi Marina Tsvetaeva fevral’ 1926’ [‘To Ariadna Chernova — with love, Marina Tsvetaeva, February 1926’]; The name has been erased. There are several marks in the text; on p. 136, above the printed initials in Cyrillic “M.Ts.,” there is an inscription reading “Marina Tsvetaeva.” Ariadna Viktorovna Chernova-Sosinskaya (1908-1974) was a writer and translator, daughter of V.M. Chernov, founder and one of the leaders of the Socialist Revolutionary Party, and wife of V.B. Sosinsky. She emigrated with her parents via Czechoslovakia and lived in Paris from 1924. She tried her hand at literature, wrote prose, worked as a literary critic, and published reviews of M.I. Tsvetaeva’s works. From 1960, she lived in the USSR. In book 1, after the title page, there is a handwritten letter from the publisher of the magazine, D.A. Shakhovskoy, addressed to V.B. Sosinsky. Brussels, September 9, 1925. In the letter, he asks for clarification of the name and patronymic of his correspondent, talks about the magazine, and suggests sending two stories for the next issue. Vladimir Bronislavovich Sosinsky (Bronislav Bronislavovich Sosinsky-Semikhat; 1900-1987) was a writer and literary critic who wrote poetry under the pseudonym “Evgeny Komarov.” The magazine Blagonamenny was published in Brussels by Archbishop John (born Prince Dmitry Alekseevich Shakhovsky; 1902-1989). Only two issues were published. It featured poetry and prose by Georgy Ivanov, Georgy Adamovich, Irina Odoevtseva, Ivan Bunin, Sergei Efron, Alexander Remizov (“The Sorrows of the Mother of God”), and others. Works by M. Tsvetaeva: ‘Marina’, ‘O blagodarnosti’ [‘On Gratitude’] (from her 1919 diary), ‘Starinnoe blagogovenie’ [‘Ancient Reverence’], and ‘Poet o kritike’ [‘The Poet on Criticism’].
