Prince Oleg Konstantinovich (1892-1914), a member of the imperial family, was the great-grandson of Emperor Nicholas I and the son of poet K.R. In 1913, he was promoted to cornet in the Life Guard Hussar Regiment. From the beginning of World War I, he took part in combat operations on the North-Western Front. In September 1914, he was seriously wounded and died shortly afterwards. He was the only member of the Russian imperial family to die on the front lines of the First World War.
