In-8, paperback, cover printed on parchment, illustrated with a facsimile of Arpad Plesch's signature. 1 blank page, half-title, title page, 512 pages, 2 blank pages. 23.7 x 15.2 x 4.2 cm Spine detached. III. Curiosa. La Léonina Library Monte Carlo, 1955. Third part of Arpad Plesch's library, devoted to curiosities, compiled by his librarian Mr Jacques Pley. In-8, paperback, cover printed on parchment, illustrated with a sun in which is written ‘La Léonina’ 1f. blank, half-title, title, 155 p. 23.7 x 14.8 x 1.5 cm Rare. Dr. Arpad Plesch (1889-1974) Businessman, bibliophile, collector, famous for his collection of botanical works (one of the largest in the world) and curiosities. It was sold at auction in London in 1975. He also compiled a catalogue raisonné and annotated catalogue of 3,500 species and varieties of tropical plants acclimatised at the ‘La Léonina’ Experimental Station in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, entitled ‘Essais d'acclimatation de plantes tropicales en France’ (Essays on the acclimatisation of tropical plants in France). La Léonina was the Plesch couple's villa, where they had a large botanical garden built.
