One of 15 copies on Rives paper, including an original gouache (engravings XI). Tear on the cover, slipcase slightly worn. Ernest Renan French writer, philologist, philosopher, epigraphist and historian. A leading figure in the critical school in France, he was known for his work on religions, particularly Christianity, and his contributions to the study of Semitic languages.
