This portrait of Robert Desnos by Félix Labisse, painted in 1942, is a preparatory study for the ‘Portrait of Robert Desnos’ held at the Bibliothèque littéraire Jacques Doucet, a heritage library of French literature from symbolism to the present day, located in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, which holds many documents and works related to Desnos. Félix Labisse French painter, poet, writer, critic, screenwriter, costume designer, theatre and opera set designer, considered one of the most original and independent surrealist artists of the 20th century. Robert Desnos A major figure in the surrealist movement, left his mark on French literature with his poems and his commitment during the Second World War.
