First illustrated edition, expanded with a ‘Critical Review’ and several chapters compared to the original 1912 edition. Numerous illustrations in and outside the text and tailpieces by Léonard Sarluis. Work printed in 40 numbered copies on Holland paper. Printed in December MCMXXIII by E. Wolff, Deux Cité Fénelon, Paris. 32.9 x 25.7 x 2.8 cm Gaston William Adam de Pawlowski French doctor of law, writer and journalist, known for his science fiction novel Voyage au pays de la quatrième dimension (Journey to the Land of the Fourth Dimension), which he began writing in 1895, and his satirical writings such as “Les nouvelles inventions” [New Inventions], in which he caricatures the abuses of the scientific method and scientism. Léonard Sarluis, pseudonym of Salomon-Léon Sarluis Painter and illustrator of Dutch origin, naturalised French, known for his works on mythological subjects imbued with symbolism. The artist settled permanently in Paris in 1904, where he was a central figure in the art scene.
