Bound in green morocco, curve-shaped flap, decorated with gilded friezes, the upper cover gilt-stamped 'Le Général Oudinot', silver-plated metal lock, interior lined in blue fabric, with four compartments, with an interior flap.

Nicolas-Charles Oudinot (1767-1847) was appointed Duke of Reggio by Emperor Napoleon I by letters patent dated April 14, 1810.
Nicolas-Charles Oudinot was a French military officer. He joined the army at a very young age and distinguished himself during the French Revolutionary Wars.
Under the First Empire, Oudinot became one of Napoleon I's most loyal and capable generals. He was made Marshal of the Empire in 1809 After his brilliant performance at the Battle of Wagram. He also took part in many other Napoleonic campaigns, notably in Spain, Russia (1812), Germany, and France.
