Letter signed as Minister of the Interior, a post he held for 10 months, and countersigned by Antoine Vincent Arnault, then head of the 4th division of the Ministry of the Interior, but also a poet and playwright. 2 p. in-4. Headed by the bureau des beaux arts et des fêtes nationales. Traces of folds inherent in the mailing. He informs him that he has approved the operations of the commission responsible for designating the best artists at the exhibition which took place ‘from 1 fructidor an VII [18 August 1799] to 1 brumaire dernier [23 October 1799]’... He has been awarded ‘a 3rd class encouragement prize’. As soon as the funds have been fixed, he will inform him of the sum awarded to him... ‘Salut et fraternité’ [Hail and brotherhood].
