Letter signed as Minister of the Interior, a post he held for 10 months, and countersigned by Antoine Vincent Arnault, then head of the 4th division of the Ministry of the Interior, but also a poet and playwright.

He informs him that he has approved the operations of the commission responsible for designating the best artists at the exhibition which took place ‘from 1 fructidor an VII [18 August 1799] to 1 brumaire dernier [23 October 1799]’... He has been awarded ‘a 3rd class encouragement prize’. As soon as the funds have been fixed, he will inform him of the sum awarded to him... ‘Salut et fraternité’ [Hail and brotherhood].
