MOROZOV' (Vladimir Morozov), maker's mark in Cyrillic 'VK' (for Vasily Kangin) Ivan Morozov (1825-1885) was a first guild merchant, hereditary honorary citizen, and owner of a trading business, founded in Gostiny Dvor in 1849 in St. Petersburg, with his own workshop. The firm fulfilled many large orders and was considered one of the best in Russia. It held the honorary title of 'Supplier to the Court of His Imperial Majesty' and had the right to use the Russian state coat of arms on its hallmarks (this was validated in 1894 and 1912). During the First World War, the company had a contract with the Imperial Cabinet; Morozov jewellers made orders and pectoral crosses for the military clergy.
