1 p. in4, 22.5 x 16.5 cm, red wax seal with his arms. Good condition but first part of signature faded. Rare. Certificate of service for the sieur "d'Ablancour", cornette of the company of Gornay, who "served the King well and faithfully" for 17 or 18 years between 1644 and 1663. "We have granted him this certificate to be worth what is reasonable". Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, known as Turenne Gentleman and famous French soldier, known to posterity by his courtesy title of Vicomte de Turenne. Marshal of France in 1643 and Marshal General of the King's camps and armies in 1660, he was one of the best generals under Louis XIII and then Louis XIV. He was a popular figure and a highly talented strategist.
