signed ‘S Charchoune’ (lower right), numbered ‘150/180’ (lower left) lithograph on paper 49 x 64 cm Russian-born, French Painter and First Russian Dada Poet Born in 1888, Serge Charchoune studied at the Moscow Academy of Art before moving to Paris in 1912. There, he attended the Académie de la Palette and met artists including Marie Laurencin and Albert Gleizes. Throughout his career, Charchoune engaged with Cubism, abstraction, and representational painting. In the early 1920s, he aligned himself with the Dada movement, exhibiting in Paris and Berlin while contributing extensively to Modernist publications.
