Jacques Mühsam (1857-1930), a successful Berlin manufacturer of cotton fabrics, was a great collector of decorative arts. Mühsam's exceptional glass collection comprised over 700 objects, including German and Dutch glass from the 16th to the 19th century, and was described by Robert Schmidt in two volumes published in Berlin in 1914 and 1926. The collection was divided between the Art Institute of Chicago and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
