Between 16 March and 5 October 1968, Picasso, aged 87, produced a series of engravings at his villa in Mougins on themes close to his heart: circus, women, eroticism, Spain, his artistic references Rembrandt, El Greco, Velázquez, Goya, Ingres or Manet... The exhibition of these works in December 1968 at the Louise Leiris gallery in Paris bore the title 'Trois cent quarante-sept gravures' which gave its name to the series 'Les 347', printed in an edition of 50 copies by the Atelier Crommelynck and signed by the artist.
