French woman of letters, Louise de Vilmorin began writing in 1933, on the advice of her friend André Malraux and with his encouragement published her first novel in 1934. Her work includes poems, stories and novels, three of which were made into films. She also worked as a scriptwriter and dialogue writer for several feature films. In 1955 she was awarded the Prince Pierre of Monaco Literary Grand Prize.
