The novel, written by Kuprin from 1928 to 1932, is a continuation of the novella "Na perelome (Kadety)" [At the Turning Point (Cadets)]. Separate chapters of the novel were published in the newspaper "Vozrozhdenie". First separate edition. 4) Zhaneta : (Princessa chetyrekh ulits) [Zhanet]: Roman [Novel]. The novella (referred to by the author as a novel) was first published in 1932-1933 in the journal "Sovremennye zapiski" [Modern Notes] (No. 50, 53). In 1934, it was published as a separate edition with the subtitle on the title page: "Zhaneta (Printsessa chetyrekh ulits)" [Jeanette (Princess of Four Streets)].
