"Okhrannaya gramota" is an autobiographical novella by Boris Pasternak, which he started working on in 1927. It was published in parts: the first part appeared in Zvezda (1929, No. 8), and the second and third parts in Krasnaya Nov (1931, No. 4, 5, 6). In the same year, "Okhrannaya gramota" was released as a separate edition. The novella faced a wave of disapproving reviews and ideological censorship, and it was not reprinted during the author's lifetime.
Pasternak Boris Leonidovich (1890-1960) was a Russian poet, writer, and one of the greatest poets of the 20th century. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1958.
