The poem "Chelovek" (The Man) concludes Vladimir Mayakovsky's pre-October period of creativity. It was published as a separate book by the "Association of Socialist Art" in February 1918, with the subtitle "Veshch" (The Thing) (which Mayakovsky used to replace the genre definition: a poem is a substantial thing). He is one of the most significant Russian poets of the 20th century, a classic of Soviet literature. He was the editor of the journals "LEF" and "Novy LEF."
