For the creation of this publication, the painter, art historian, art theorist, restorer, and museum worker IGOR GRABAR' (1871-1960) engaged the best figures in Russian culture of his time: A.N. Benois, I.Ya. Bilibin, A.M. Vasnetsov, N.N. Wrangel, N.K. Roerich, F.F. Gornostaev, S.P. Diaghilev, V.A. Pokrovsky, N.P. Kondakov, S.K. Makovsky, A.I. Uspensky, among others. Despite being incomplete, this work remains one of the most comprehensive studies on the history of Russian art.
